Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Make an appointment with our convenient online scheduling tool.
How should I prepare for my first appointment?
Complete the new patient online registration. Also, wear loose and comfortable clothing. If you are an athlete, please have your training shoes.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first physical therapy visit will include a thorough evaluation, movement assessment, hands-on treatment, education about your condition, and strategies on how to help yourself at home.
What about follow-up appointments?
Follow-up physical therapy visits are on an as-needed basis and include treatments that address the pain and impairments found during your initial evaluation through an individualized program, tailored to your needs and goals. Your sessions may include hands-on treatment, corrective movements, and strategies for home self-treatment.
Where do physical therapy sessions take place?
Artemis Physical Therapy is located in Vinnin Square. In qualifying cases, home and location visits are available.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
No. The state of Massachusetts has unrestricted, direct access to physical therapy, meaning you do not need a physician referral to start physical therapy. Your physical therapist is trained in differential diagnosis and will refer to a licensed practitioner of medicine, dentistry or podiatry if symptoms are present of which physical therapy is contraindicated or which symptoms are indicative of conditions for which treatment is outside the scope of physical therapy practice.
Do you consult with my healthcare team?
Yes, we can consult (with your permission) with all members of your health care team, including your physicians, chiropractors, massage therapist, and personal trainers.
How long are appointments and how often will I need physical therapy?
Initial evaluations generally take one hour. Your individual needs will be evaluated, and follow-up times and frequency will be established based on your specific profile.
What about cancellations?
Cancellation and No Show Policy
It is required that all cancellations occur at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. When you schedule an appointment with Artemis Physical Therapy, PLLC you make a commitment to your health. In turn, we guarantee that time is reserved solely for you. Missed appointments can interfere with your progress in treatment. Also, when an appointment is missed without cancelling within a 24 hour time period, the physical therapist does not have the opportunity to offer that time to someone else in need of services.
To ensure that Artemis Physical Therapy best meets the needs of all, it is our policy that patients are responsible for all appointments they have scheduled. If you do not cancel prior to 24 hours of your appointment or you do not show up for your appointment then the cost of the service will be charged to your credit card. You will be asked to provide a valid credit card when scheduling your first appointment and that credit card will remain on your account indefinitely. It is the responsibility of the client to be on time for their service and the entire fee for the scheduled service will be charged even if the client is late and does not receive the full treatment.
This cancellation policy is for all types of appointments. Extenuating circumstances and special situations will be reviewed on an individual basis per the discretion of Artemis Physical Therapy, PLLC. Your first physical therapy visit will include a thorough evaluation, movement assessment, hands-on treatment, education about your condition, and strategies on how to help yourself at home.
How do I pay for Artemis Physical Therapy Services?
All payment is due at time of service. Cash, personal check, and all Major Credit Cards are accepted as well as Health Care Saving Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. Click here more information on Billing and Insurance.
Can I use my insurance?
Artemis Physical Therapy is an Out-of-Network (OON) provider for all commercial insurances. Unfortunately, the current in-network insurance business model does not allow for the type of high-quality, individualized care that Artemis Physical Therapy is committed to giving. This being said, often insurance companies will reimburse for these out-of-network services. We will provide the appropriate documentation needed upon request. Physical therapy services do qualify for Health Care Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Contact us for more information regarding our choice to be an Out-of-Network network provider.
If I want to use my out of network insurance benefits, should I call my insurance company?
It is highly recommended that you contact your health insurance company before your first visit with Artemis Physical Therapy to determine your OON benefits. Click here for an OON Benefits Worksheet .
